Cirer Solell - White wine from Benlloc

Cirer Solell 2025 / Macabeo · Garnacha Blanca · Viognier

Concept

A dry, calm white wine from vineyards around the villages of Benlloc and Vall d'Alba. Macabeo, Garnacha Blanca and Viognier rooted in calcareous soils with abundant rock and silt. Hand-picked and gently pressed, the free-run juice ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel and ages on fine lees to let the terroir speak without interference.

Cépages and vintage

Macabeo, Garnacha Blanca and Viognier from the 2025 vintage.

Alcohol: 14 %

Production

4,000 bottles.

Altitude

300 to 600 m above sea level.

Soil

Calcareous soils 40 to 80 million years old with colluvial stone and silty texture. Low fertility and high drainage under dry-farming.

Vine age

50 years old, goblet-trained (en vaso).

Climate

Coastal Mediterranean climate inland from Benlloc. Maritime influence is felt all day, bringing a refreshing, saline, humid breeze that helps greatly during heatwaves and drought.

Rainfall

600 mm annually from October 2024 to September 2025.

Viticulture

The philosophy is to give the vineyards what they need so each season's climate plays out as a symphony, using the local tradition of plowing and tending soils in winter and spring, feeding them with goat and horse manure, iron amendments for the soil's high calcareous alkalinity, and preventive elemental sulfur to avoid powdery mildew outbreaks that can appear with humid maritime air. Harvest is by hand so vines are not damaged by the violence of a machine harvester.

Vinification

Hand-picked clusters arrive at the cellar in 12 kg boxes, destemmed without crushing to fall by gravity into a vertical manual press. Pressing is gentle and patient to avoid extracting phenolics and bitter astringency. The must is settled and we recover clear juice without lees to avoid reduction and bitterness. This gives Solell great purity. Fermentation uses selected yeasts at controlled temperature, never above 16 °C. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is racked off gross lees and aged in stainless steel for 7 months. For bottling, we filter the wine and fill bottles without oxygen, sealed with TCA-tested natural cork.

Tasting notes

Opened on 10 July 2026 in a Rona SENSO Chardonnay glass.

In the glass, pale yellow with golden straw reflections. Bright and very luminous.

Primary fruit aromas evoke ripe pineapple, apricots and mango, wrapped in a secondary atmosphere of flint and light smoke. An elegant, very clean, deep bouquet.

On the palate the texture is fresh, vibrant and velvety at once. Viognier brings stone fruit with crisp nectarine and a silky passage. Garnacha Blanca gives breadth and volume on the mid-palate and finish with saline mineral flavors. Macabeo tightens the whole with acidity and freshness. Long, voluminous, saline finish.

In a word: Cirer Solell floods the table with immediate pleasure — fresh, broad, pure, saline Mediterranean character.
